Quite surprised to see Speech Debelle win the Mercury Prize last night. 'Speech Therapy' is fairly passable for what it is but is the content better than the might of 'Howl' or 'Drumming Song' by Florence or 'Siren Song' by Bat for Lashes? Hmmmmm. Not really. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that she's only sold 3000 copies of her album and has walked all over the likes of Kasabian to win but is this really the best British album of 2008-2009?
