After a pretty lacklustre attempt at a musical career first time round, 'best friend of Amy Winehouse', Remi Nicole is having a second pop at stardom with her new album Cupid Shoot Me. The album is a poppy cast-of-Grease-meets-Lily-Allen affair with a few memorable tracks such as the rocky, oddly Libertines-esque Another Day, the upbeat Love Me So and the quite dramatic Standing Tears Apart. On the whole though it's kind of all been done before by much stronger vocal talent and you can see why she sank without trace first time around in the shadow of the other formidable pop talents that emerged at the same time (Winehouse, Adele and Duffy). Oh well at least she managed to buy a house with the advance on the first album - a three-bedroom house in a converted church in Highbury apparently - if she was trying to get a record deal now she probably wouldn't be so lucky.
