Neon Gold is relatively new (since 2008) and an apparently thriving indie label, in itself something of an achievement right now. Hosting the precocious talent of Marina and the Diamonds and the marvellous Passion Pit the label is headquartered in NYC where it's run by two college kids, Mexican food fans Lizzie Plapinger and Derek Davies who essentially seem to be doing some rather extensive college work experience. And doing it very well. The pair have taken a thrifty, uncomplicated approach to the music business: "with Neon Gold it’s pretty straightforward: we press up 500 copies of a record and once it’s sold out, that’s it – we close the book and move onto our next project." They make it sound so simple. The reality is that they do seem to have an ear for the industry with Metronomy side project Your Twenties, Yes Giantess and Australian Gotye already having released on the label. It was rumoured that they also might have a release from the excellent Theophilus London and The Sound of Arrows in the offing and there's definitely a remix of Swedish wunderkind Erik Hassle's (see below) debut single "Don't Bring Flowers" by Yes Giantess.
