Forest Swords - Not Dogging

Whilst ‘Forest Swords’ may be the kind of name that someone with a bit of a dirty mind could read as related to some form woodland-based nakedness, it is in fact much more enjoyable and less fleeting a pleasure. It is the moniker for a Wirral based solo songsmith making “British coastal jams” who has been known to release his music on the long lost art form that is the cassette. FS has a penchant for beats that echo the environment they were created in, writing music that ambiently recreates the dramatic coastline and occasional bleakness of the northwest peninsula that is his home turf. With a nod to Burial-esque sampled denseness, FS combines dub beats, basslines and guitars both rock and acoustic, with a hefty dose of reverb, to produce an output that definitely makes him one for the radar for 2010. So far released is 'Dagger Paths' - 12" EP on Olde English Spelling Bee with the panoramic single 'Rattling Cage / Hjurt' due on 26th July on No Pain In Pop.
