Day 2 was just awash with must see shows starting with Fashion East who went for Goth, sending Wednesday Adams models down the catwalk wearing simple, dark tailoring followed by bare faced models in loose, swirling fabrics with splashes of brights and prints drawn together in a kind of neat patchwork.
‘Controversial’ designer Mark Fast once again used the odd ‘real’-sized model (ooh a size 12, what a heffer), sending them out bare faced in layered draping and clinging spider web knits in a range of pastels, darks and brights with matching coloured tights.
It was another tights moment at House of Holland where the bold patterned hosiery in acid bright colours stole the show from the big, bold black paisley prints which appeared on everything from long pink dresses to oversized shirts and denim jackets. The collection also featured jailbird stripes on jackets and jumpsuits, more visible zips and loosely bandaged dresses.
Other highlights of the day included John Rocha whose elaborate black and cream creations, included rum babba/bearskin-a–like hats and tights with knee level cut outs for the girls and a Dickensian thief look of layered tailoring for the boys.
One of my favourites, Holly Fulton showed those lovely, neat prints like art deco skyscrapers over a palette of bright colours and PPQ finished off the day with a gold and black show featuring gold fringing, caped shapes and elegantly tailored dresses on smoky eyed models wearing gorgeous ankle-tied patent platforms.
And breathe….
