
The MA shows at the London College of Fashion this month revealed some burgeoning talents, showcasing everything from extravagant fashion photography through to cleanly cut garment designs and accessories inspired by observations of plant life. Among fashion footwear student Jamie Nelson’s designs, a beautiful pair of soft grey over the knee boots and some curvaceous ankle boots with decorated heels, work that “embodies a fearless mix of sex and freedom, order and control.” Hasan Hejazi’s eveningwear designs create an acute longing for the weekend with the dark, sexy palette of midnight blue, black and purple and heavy use of sequins, fishtail, peek-a-boo fabrics and dyed goat’s fur in the creation of the gorgeously glamazon garments. Laura Cremene’s menswear, designed around the idea of ‘the opposite within’, is a fascinating mix of eccentric, sinister and fairy tale with faded blazers and shirts emblazoned with dream like, paranoid images.
