Where the Wild Things Are is Spike Jonze's latest creation, an adaptation of the children's book by Maurice Sendak where misunderstood boy escapes through his imagination to a land of strange creatures who make him their king. The first wonderful thing about these wild things is that their emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions which makes a nice change from the moral, moderate, cutesy characters that normally appear in kids films. The other wonderful thing is that the soundtrack to the film is the work of siren voiced wild thing Karen O, a former fling of Jonze's. Not only does she bring her own brand of gritty cool and emotional punch to the soundtrack but she's also recruited a whole crew of helpers from her YYYs band mates as well as Queens of the Stone Age and The Dead Weather. The film is released on 16th October but the soundtrack is coming early with the first single, All is Love, due out tomorrow (25th August).
