Lovvers

Last week I greeted the news that Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong are once again hurling themselves on the mercy of the music buying public by going to listen to Lovvers do a free lunchtime session at Pure Groove. I felt this was an effective antidote to the revelation that the most overexposed band in the NME universe were about to whip away their last shred of decency like this. I can't help wondering who is putting them up to this insanity - surely JLJJJ are way OVER? Now is the turn of La Roux, Little Boots (sort of), Florence and all things dubstep and wonky and JL and his merry band are the wrong sex or just the wrong sound. But anyway, back to Lovvers they were great! By the end of their chaotic, energetic punk rocking I had forgotten all about JL.  I regretted the tequila shots and the moshing when I got back to the office but the bruises and the headache were a small price to pay for feeling alive on a Wednesday lunchtime..
